Our story
We grew up in families that showed up for one another.
We’re Gayatri and Urvesh, co-founders of Birch.

Care was simply family.
In the Indian families we grew up in, looking after one another was woven into ordinary life. Someone checked in. Someone knew whom to call. Someone showed up.
No one gave it a name. It was simply how we cared for one another.

Where our idea of care began.
Then we built lives of our own.
We became friends in college. In the years since, we’ve each built careers in technology, met our partners and started families of our own.
Between the families we are raising and the families that raised us, our lives now span San Francisco, New York, London, Toronto and India.
Our instinct to care never changed. But finding and arranging help had become harder than it needed to be.
A ride. A prescription. A repair. Help existed, but someone still had to find it, arrange it and hold everything together.
We kept coming back to the same question:
Why couldn’t everyday help feel as natural as asking someone you trust?
So we’re building Birch.
Birch gives your parent one familiar number to call for everyday help, starting with rides and friendly weekly calls.
They ask in their own words. They choose what happens next. Birch helps make it happen.
