Questions families ask

If yours is not here, call 1 (800) 11-BIRCH and ask.

What exactly is Birch?

Birch is one number someone can call for rides, everyday help and a friendly conversation. Birch handles the details, follows through and sends only the family updates the caller has approved.

Who is Birch for?

Birch is designed for older adults who want a simple way to arrange everyday help by phone. It also gives families a way to stay informed without taking over.

How does someone use Birch?

They call the Birch number from any phone and say what they need. Birch confirms the details and price, waits for their approval and then handles the request within the services currently available.

Is Birch an AI or a person?

Birch uses technology to take the request and coordinate the details, and a Birch colleague joins the call whenever judgment or care is needed. If you would rather speak with a person, just say so.

Can I set Birch up for my parent?

Yes, but Birch works for your parent. They must agree to use it, approve every booking and choose who receives family updates.

Does my parent need a smartphone or an app?

No. Birch works through an ordinary phone call. Your parent does not need a smartphone, app or online account.

What can Birch do today?

Birch currently books and follows through on rides, makes reminder calls, offers weekly friendly calls on eligible plans and sends approved family updates.

How much does Birch cost?

Plans start at $23 per month. The exact plan price depends on the calling and services included. Cancel anytime.

Are rides included in the monthly price?

No. The Birch subscription covers Birch's booking and follow-through service. The ride itself is charged separately, and Birch confirms the fare before the caller approves it.

Who decides what family is told?

The caller does. Birch sends updates only to the people they choose and only about what they have agreed to share.

Are calls recorded or shared with family?

Family does not receive recordings or transcripts. Birch's call-recording and retention policy is being finalised and will be published here.

What if a ride is late or cancelled?

Birch uses the ride information available to help follow up and explain the next step. Birch does not operate the vehicle or guarantee that a third-party ride will arrive.

What happens in an emergency?

Birch is not an emergency-response service. If a caller says they are in immediate danger, a Birch colleague can join the call and help contact 911. Whenever possible, call 911 directly in an emergency.

Where is Birch available?

Tell us where they live and we will confirm whether Birch is currently available there.

Can an organization offer Birch?

Yes. Cities, senior-living communities, agencies, employers, benefits providers and community organizations can begin with a focused pilot.

Still have a question?

Any phone. No app. Nothing booked without their yes.
